Skip Bayless has been one of the most iconic sports media figures of his generation and has ushered in a debate-heavy form of content that has clearly influenced nearly every sports talk show on every network in recent years.

After the most recent episode of his show “Undisputed” on FS1, Bayless made a major announcement

Bayless announced on X that he has done his last show on “Undisputed” and is leaving FS1, noting that he has been planning to pursue other opportunities for months and is excited for what’s to come after an eight-year run with FOX.

Prior to his stint with FS1, Bayless rose to fame during 12 years at ESPN where he and Stephen A. Smith became household names by screaming hot takes at one another.

There were rumors that this was coming, but it’s unusual to see Bayless exit in such a quiet manner with no other significant mention of his departure.

You wouldn’t expect the fiery Bayless to leave “Undisputed” via a tweet, and it will be interesting to see what he does next.

Smith has already shot down rumors of a reunion at ESPN as he continues to thrive alongside another of Bayless’ former partners, Shannon Sharpe, on “First Take.”

Bayless may have flown too close to the sun with some of his takes and his controversial nature, so it might not be easy to find another big partner willing to hitch their wagon to him.

So, it’s anyone’s guess what’s next for the 72-year-old sports media giant.
