For years, Skip Bayless developed a bit of a reputation among NBA and NFL fans.

Often apologetic, the former ESPN pundit became quite the controversial figure in the sports analyst scene, and while that also granted him plenty of attention for years, it seems like his star is starting to fade.

A recent report by The New York Post revealed that Bayless would leave FS1 and therefore, his role on Undisputed after eight years.

Apparently, the final show will air at some point this summer.

Now, Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports shared some light on the reasoning behind that decision.

Per McCarthy, the show plummetting in ratings and failing to keep up with his former show on ESPN, First Take, prompted FS1 to pull the plug on him, as he’s making something in the $6 million to $8 million range.

Undisputed reportedly only had 50,000 viewers some days, with First Take running away with ratings.

Truth be told, this is far from a surprise.

Shannon Sharpe leaving his side was the final blow.

Bayless tried to put together a superteam to keep up with his former co-hosts, Sharpe and Stephen A. Smith, bringing in the likes of Keyshawn Johnson, Paul Pierce, Richard Sherman, and Michael Irvin, but to no avail.

Whether Bayless will continue with his podcast or pursue a new endeavor remains to be seen but one thing’s for sure: He’s not going to back down on social media.
